Difference Between CMOS And NMOS. In this article, you will get to know about what is CMOS, what is NMOS, what is the main difference between CMOS and NMOS, and a comparison between CMOS vs NMOS.

Both the terms are used in physics and create a lot of confusion in students’ minds. Here, we will first discuss the main difference between CMOS and NMOS and then differentiate between them in detail.

What Is The Mian Difference Between CMOS And NMOS?

The main difference between CMOS and NMOS is that the:

-CMOS is a type of chip that uses complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. It provides high with low power consumption.

-NMOS is a semiconductor. It charges negatively in such a way that a transistor is on or off by the negative electrons present in it.

What Is CMOS?

CMOS (complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) is spelt as ‘SEE-MOS’. It is a type of chip that uses complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology. It provides high with low power consumption. Many RAM chips, flash memory chips, and various other types of memory chips use CMOS chips. CMOS technology retains the information by consuming the battery, even when the computer is off. For example, the date and time are correct even when the system is turned off. CMOS also store the computer’s startup information.

What Is NMOS?

NMOS stands for Negative Channel Metal-Oxide Semiconductor and is spelt as ‘EN-MOSS’. It is a semi-conductor. It charges negatively in such a way that a transistor is on or off by the negative electrons present in it. NMOS is fast as compared to PMOS (Positive Channel Metal-Oxide Semiconductor). On the other hand, it is expensive than PMOS, which works by the moving electron vacancies.
