What Is Cytoplasm?
The cytoplasm comprises all the material present in a cell. All the components are surrounded by a cell membrane. The nucleus is not considered part of the cytoplasm. Because, the components of the nucleus, themselves make the nucleoplasm. The cytoplasm is a colorless material. It has 80% of the water in it. The organelles are also present along with cytoplasmic inclusion.

The cytoplasm does not include the nucleus in the eukaryotic cells. In prokaryotic cells, the cellular DNA is excluded. The term cytoplasm is relevant in modern biology. The main activities of the cell take place in the cytoplasm like glycolysis and cell division takes place in the cytoplasm. The cytoplasm consists of two regions; the inner endoplasm and the outer ectoplasm.
What Is Cytosol?
There is not any significant difference in the cytoplasm and cytosol. The cytosol is the part of the cytoplasm. It is an aqueous component of the cytoplasm. This portion is not contained within the organelles. It is also called a cytoplasmic matrix. Up to 70% of the cell is composed of cytosol. The cytosol consists of filaments, small molecules, water and cytoskeleton, ribosomes, vault complexes, and the proteasome. Metabolites and small ions are also present in the cytosol because they regulate the cellular processes.
In plants, vacuole takes place of the cytoplasm, while in bacterial cells it covers most of the structure of the cell.
